Wednesday 5/10

Today was a low key day with dad and I going on a short outing to Hemet. We won't be going back to Hemet.  However, on the way from Murrieta to Hemet is the largest reservoir in Southern California called The Diamond Valley Lake, or Domenigoni Reservoir. Although it's been supplying water to the region for the past 60 years, the construction of three dams was completed in 1999 and it took three years to fill the 4500 acre reservoir with completion in 2002. It has the capacity to hold about 260 billions gallons of water supplying 18 million people with drinking water, or 1.7 billion gallons per day to the service area. The water is delivered from the Colorado River and from Silverwood Lake.  The dams are constructed to withstand earthquakes reading 7.5 - 8.0 on the Richter Scale as there are two major faults within 20 miles. It is huge and quite the sight to see! We had a nice dinner at home and some Julian pie and ice cream for dessert before heading to our rooms for sleep.  Back to the coast tomorrow.
